We’ll rebuild public and affordable housing where people need it, fund it responsibly, and stop the system rewarding speculation over shelter.
Homes people can actually access
We need homes people can actually access, not more announcements. That means more social, affordable and public housing, secure long-term funding, clear delivery targets, and a fairer system that cuts waiting lists and gets people housed.
Homes in places people can live
People need homes in places they can actually live, not dumped miles from jobs, schools, transport and healthcare. That means setting minimum location standards, properly linking housing with essential services, and making state and local governments accountable for what gets delivered and where.

Veterans deserve a housing system that does not leave them stuck in the queue after service. That means a fast-tracked priority pathway, proper wraparound support including mental health and employment help with better DVA coordination, and dedicated homes set aside in new social housing builds.

Why does Jacqui care about housing?
I have fought for better housing outcomes since I was elected to the senate in 2013.
I grew up in a council house, and I played in the street and had mates that lived in public housing and lots who didn’t, we were all mixed in together!
That’s the way it should be. But in the last 30 years, low-income Australians keep being forced to live on the fringes of our cities, having to drive for hours to get to work.
Australian working families, and our young people can’t afford to buy a house and that is just all wrong!
This is the fault of both major parties who dropped the ball and stopped building social and affordable housing.
The fix is more supply, basically build more houses. But tax arrangements – Capital Gains Tax and Negative Gearing turns housing into an investment opportunity instead of a necessity.
How can we accomplish this?
Limit & Grandfather Negative Gearing
Our position is simple: the law is valid, and we will not rip existing arrangements away from people who made decisions under it. This reform is about fairness and better targeting. It is aimed at multi-property investors, not mum-and-dad Australians.
Tax concessions should help build housing supply, not keep driving up demand. That is why the policy would cap negative gearing to two properties and fully grandfather existing arrangements.
Reducing Capital Gains Discounts
Fixing CGT will not solve the whole housing mess, but it is a big part of it. The current tax discount gives investors an edge that first home buyers simply do not have, and that is pushing the system further out of balance. We are not talking about ripping away existing arrangements.
We are talking about fair, future-focused reform that lowers investor distortion, helps more owner-occupiers compete, and frees up billions that can be put back into social and affordable housing. Tax breaks should help fix the housing crisis, not make it worse.

What do you stand for?
The Jacqui Lambie Network has three core beliefs — we should be giving a leg up to the little guy, politics should be open, and to champion the powerless, be suspicious of the powerful. You can read more about what we stand for here.
I like you, but I always vote for another party. Why should I change now?
If you’re happy with the way the country is heading, then you should keep voting the same way you’ve always voted.
If you think the other major party has done enough to win your support this election, you should vote for them instead.
But if you, like us, are sick of nothing changing, change how you vote. You can’t expect to change the country if you’re not prepared to change your vote.
We reckon the kind of country we have is decided by the kind of people we elect to represent us.
The kind of people we’re sending to Canberra right now — we can do better. Before you trust them with your vote, ask yourself: would you trust them with your wallet?
Won't voting for you just mean chaos in Parliament?
No. Major parties claim this every election. Their definition of chaos is ‘people not being told which way to vote.’ Major party politicians get told where to vote, on every issue. Their daily decision-making begins and ends with what colour socks to put on.
With us, every vote’s determined by our values. Those don’t change. They never have. That’s not chaos. If anything, it’s consistency. We’re driven by our values, not by wanting to get a promotion.
If I get involved, what sort of time do you need from me?
As much as you like! It can range from literally (we mean literally) no time at all, all the way through to every day of the week if you want to help us. Your involvement can be as simple as letting us put up a sign on your property. You don’t have to even get out of your pyjamas if you don’t want to!
It’s part of our values. We think politics should be open to everyone. So if you want to get involved, make it our problem to find a way to involve you. We promise — we’ll find a way to help you make a meaningful, genuine contribution to changing the way we do politics in Australia.
What is your policy on X, Y or Z?
We’ve got a few key policies, but we’re not like major parties in that we come up with hundreds of policy positions that sound good but never get anywhere.
We’re not running to form government. Our goal is different. We want the balance of power.
What happens when you meet your campaign action's donation goal?
It depends on how long it took to reach the goal and how long there is before the election. If we reach it with 24 hours to go before polling day, we will close the donation goal, because we will not have time to reach it again. If we’re lucky enough to meet and exceed our campaign donation goal ahead of schedule we’ll extend the goal to see if we can go bigger with our campaign tactic. While a full-page newspaper advertisement would be incredible, for example, we can book out the full front page of the newspaper for an extra 30 per cent.
We don’t expect we’ll reach our goals early. But it’s one of those problems that you wouldn’t mind having.
