Tassie travels

We’re already into the second month of this year. Where did January go?
I was lucky enough to spend my January with Jacqui, travelling around Tassie and talking to people on the ground about what’s happening in their world. I’ve been to the Cygnet Folk Festival, St Helens Athletics Carnival, Longford Goat Fest, Devonport Cup, Hobart Twilight Market and attended some beautiful Australia Day citizenship ceremonies.
I’m so grateful to all the Tasmanians who have been so welcoming to me as their new Senator. I can’t believe that I get to have this opportunity to help people in my beautiful home state. Meeting all the wonderful people in our state is hands down one of my favourite parts of the job.
I always say I’ve got an open door policy, so please don’t be afraid to get in touch with me and tell me what’s on your mind.
LONGFORD MOTORAMA
It was incredibly upsetting for Longford that the Grand Prix Expo was cancelled six weeks out from the event.
I still believe that the organisers of the event (DX industries) owe the community an explanation of what occurred. $370,000 of taxpayer was spent on an event that wasn't going to happen. They cancelled it and went radio silent.
It is heartwarming to see the community come together to organise an alternative event. The Longford Motorama team are in the thick of organising right now, and I know it's going to be fabulous. Make sure you save the date in the diary now (March 11th - 13th).
