Final Countdown

The countdown is on - it’s only 30 days until christmas!! I love decorating the house. It's one of my favourite things to do. I haven’t had a chance to do it yet, but it’s the first thing on the list when I make it home.

I’m excited to say that my office in Launceston is officially OPEN! 139-143 Hobart Rd, Kings Meadows. Feel free to come in and say hello. My gorgeous staff would be happy to see you.  

It’s been a pretty big week in the Senate, with a lot of legislation going through. One of the things I’m proud of is the work my team did on the Respect at Work bill. This bill makes sure workplaces are safer for everyone, and says that someone can’t be discriminated or harassed based on sex. We had an amendment pass that will see a review of this bill take place in 2 - 3 years. It doesn’t seem like much, but it’s important to make sure that legislation is working as it’s intended.

I’m all about the small wins that’ll make life better for people. And I think this is one of them.

I’m pretty concerned about the changes announced recently by Southern Cross Care. There’s a lot of staff that are going to be negatively affected, and people don’t feel they were consulted properly. I’m getting a lot of calls to my office from people concerned about what the changes will mean for them.
