Steve Martin & Jacqui - Pic LauncestonA step into Federal politics is a natural progression for Steve Martin’s desire to effect meaningful change in Tasmania.

For most of his life, Steve has been involved in his community one way or another; not only did he play football premierships with Devonport, Spreyton and Wesley Vale Football Clubs as well as representing Tasmania in basketball – he was also a volunteer firefighter for 40 years and has received numerous awards for his service.

Steve was also the founder of Enormity Inc, which involves young people in positive real life, entrepreneurial, community and fun activities and events; change community attitude towards young people; and to address the lack of relevant affordable entertainment for their age group, attacking boredom and associated problems. Enormity has been running for 20 years now.

The health situation in Tasmania is close to Steve’s heart, as he formed the Mersey Community Hospital Support Group in 2003, where the group continues fight to retain services and staffing levels at the Mersey Community Hospital.

Steve has also organised a number of community fund-raisers, raising more than $300,000 for worthy charities and has been awarded several volunteer awards for his efforts.

As JLN’s No.2 Tasmanian Senate Candidate, Steve will do everything in his power to ensure Tasmanian’s reach their potential and have a strong independent voice in Canberra.
