The new JLN number 1 candidate representing Queensland, is Marcus Saltmarsh.

At 41, Marcus is a medically retired army officer and a veteran of East Timor Iraq and Afghanistan. He is unmarried, has no children, and lives with his assistance dog Frank Davies.

Marcus currently lives in sunny Brisbane, where he first moved in 1997.  He has spent most of the time living in South East Queensland, interrupted only by his time at the Royal Military College – Duntroon, overseas deployments and a two-and-a-half-year posting to Townsville in North Queensland.

Marcus has particular interests in veteran matters, consumer protection within our building and construction sectors, protecting Australian jobs, protecting Australian prime agricultural farmland, preserving and growing domestic industry, social advocacy, and ensuring that those of us in need are protected from the excesses of government.

Marcus has given 20 years of service to the Australian Army and considers a potential Senate seat to be a unique opportunity to continue his service to his community, and to deliver better outcomes for Queensland.
