photoCrystal was born in Townsville to proud parents on 21st June 1984, where she then grew up on Magnetic Island with her parents and two brothers. Growing up in a family with parents as small business owners she naturally started her working life in the family business during her early high school years.

In 2002 Crystal commenced her undergraduate qualifications at university in the area of Early Childhood Education, however while doing so she also worked in the child care sector to finance her endeavours. Upon graduating from University she found herself, not teaching, but instead working with families and children in foster care in Queensland and over the next few years worked across the child protection sector several roles in both Government and Non-Government agencies, where her main passion was getting children back to family, where possible. During this time Crystal also achieved her Post-Graduate qualifications in child protection practices.

In 2009 Crystal welcomed the birth of her son and took a career break for nearly two years to be at home with her child. Later re-entering the workforce in a role with Local Government in the Cassowary Coast region immediately after the devastation of cyclone Yasi, before finally returning to Townsville in 2013, to again working across several roles in this time the community service sector.

Today Crystal is the very proud partner of a younger Veteran, who has been medically retired from the Australian Army due to service related injuries attributed to his deployments to both East Timor for peace-keeping efforts and Afghanistan for active duty. This relationship sees Crystal also become step-parent to her partner’s son and daughter.

Currently Crystal is very active in the local area as a Veterans’ Advocate with the APPVA as well as being a mother with small children and all that entails.
